Based on PDD’s expertise in developing rugged products for industrial and marine use, Lifedge asked us to develop a rugged iPhone case.
Lifedge wanted to offer iPhone users a high-performance protective case that was so attractive and convenient that they would keep it on for everyday use. Our challenge was to achieve 100% waterproof and dustproof performance (IP68) but in a small, light and functional case.
PDD’s team challenged the existing principles of sealing and structure to create a new, patented seal form and architecture for Lifedge. This enables the iPhone 5/5s case to be IP68, shockproof and yet thin-walled, light and ultra-compact.
Its incredible performance comes with no loss of functionality; all the iPhone functions can still be accessed, including in-case charging, and it has exceptional sound transmission and call clarity. The ‘do anything’ iPhone can now ‘go anywhere’ and has helped Lifedge promote its vision to inspire and enable people to use technology on their outdoor adventures.
PDD has completed its planned transition to the latest version of this rigorous international quality assurance standard for medical devices, building on the success of earlier transitions and successful audits to the FDA 21CFR Part 820 in 2015.
It’s been a great start to 2016. The first quarter is not yet over and already PDD has 3 new prestigious design awards to its name. PDD’s work with the health & personal care brand Swisslux and the Zyliss kitchenware brand has been awarded with Red Dot design awards. This was followed by a German Design Award for the Testo 870 Thermal Imager.
