Important advancements within medical technology are opening up new possibilities for the healthcare industry to redefine itself through the use of devices able to provide, collect, analyse, and convey data. It is estimated that the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) market will be worth over $158 billion in 2022 and is set to improve the communication between technology and people, thereby creating an infrastructure of medical devices, health systems and services. The IoMT plays a crucial role in reducing the costs of care while ensuring its effectiveness is generated by the rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning technologies.
PDD’s founder Dr Paul Pankhurst is the inventor of the Quantex 4C drug delivery IoT platform which made it on the recent MedTech ‘Top 10 Drug Delivery Device Companies in 2019’ list.
Quantex has successfully spun off from PDD over 9 years ago, and we are still continuing a successful partnership to this day. Dr Paul Pankhurst developed the fixed-displacement rotary pumping principle in 2009 and this is now a leader in single-use disposable pumps and used in various industries ranging from industrial and medical to food and beverage.
Used extensively by various global companies, the Quantex 4C drug delivery IoT platform demonstrates how simplicity and a thorough understanding of the end-user are essential for creating successful and easy to use products.

The system relies on a single-use and reusable pump driver device, which is programmed via a smartphone application conveying infusion data to a web portal, which facilitates patients’ home infusions. As Dr Pankhurst noted, “We like to showcase what is possible and make it as easy for anyone to adopt our pump technology into their equipment or use case, supporting with integration and bespoke pump design.”
We are proud to be part of this journey and would like to congratulate Quantex on making the MedTech ‘Top 10 Drug Delivery Device Companies in 2019’ list! Read the full article and find out more about this innovation here.
